Field & Diamond Closures

The status of all fields and diamonds will be posted and updated by the Town of Legal by 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday during the regular season. This notice, will be posted on the on the Town's website and social media pages.

Ball Diamonds

Legal has three well maintained ball diamonds. Each diamond is in a separate location. 

Citadel Diamond - Diamond #1 (fastball)

• Located in Citadel Park north of Citadel Centre, 4812 - 51 Avenue
• Parking is available in the Citadel Centre Parking Lot
• One diamond with a shale infield 
• Site includes grandstand

KC Park Diamond - Diamond #5

• Located at the south end of 47 Street
• Parking is available along 47 Street
• One diamond with shale infield

RV Park Diamond - Diamond #6

• Located just south of the Centennial RV Park on 43 Street
• Parking is available in the overflow parking section of the RV Park
• One diamond with shale infield

Soccer Pitches

Legal has three well maintained soccer pitches in Citadel Park.

• Two pitches are located at the north end of Citadel Park, 4812 - 51 Avenue
  • Parking and access is available at the north end of 50 Street
• One pitch is located north of Legal School, 5122 - 46 Street
  • Parking and access is available along the north end of 46 Street

Legal's residents and visitors can take advantage of this fantastic outdoor space built by the community. The gazebo and surrounding area is perfect for family gatherings, wedding ceremonies or other special occasions.

The gazebo is located next to Citadel Centre, 4812-51 Avenue.

Take advantage of this facility by booking it at a daily rate of $50.00 (+ GST) plus $150.00 damage deposit.

Legal has a 5,000 square foot outdoor concrete skatepark with varied terrain. There are suspended quarter pipes, a bank-to-barrier, mini magic carpet section along with hips, and ledges. Everything you need for a thrill or adventure ride!

The skatepark can be accesses at Citadel Centre, 4812 - 51 Avenue.

The Town of Legal has recently been awarded funding from the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings Program (GICB) in the amount of $7,159,360 for the Legal Arena & Curling Rink Retrofit Project.

While we are very excited to move forward with the project, we are still in the very early stages of the design process and are not looking to break ground until April 2024.

Be advised that the Legal Arena & Curling Rink is now closed.

The Legal Arena & Curling Rink is the heart of our community which helps keep our community thriving and active. We are looking forward to seeing you again this coming season, and once again after the retrofit project has been completed.

Legal Arena

The Arena is located at 4720-51 Avenue in Legal. The facility can accommodate up to 250 people and offers heated bleacher areas to ensure spectators get the most out of their experience. Additionally, wheelchair accessible seating is available. There are four large dressing rooms for players and a one referee room. The arena lobby has a kitchen plus two large restrooms. 

In Legal, we encourage physical activity and take every effort to remove barriers in order for people to participate. Public Skating is offered on Sundays and Wednesdays during the regular season. Private rentals are available upon booking requests. For more information contact the Town Office at 780-961-3773.

Outdoor Skating Rink

Legal has a well-designed outdoor ice rink with lights and boards for your enjoyment. The facility is located beside the Arena at 4720 - 51 Avenue. This facility is available at no cost. Come on down your with skates for a morning, afternoon or evening of fun. 

The Outdoor Rink is closed for the season.

Curling Club

The Curling Club is located at 4720-51 Avenue and includes four playing sheets and two rest rooms in the foyer. The newly renovated lounge overlooks the playing surface and includes a bar and small kitchen. The arena's lobby hosts a kitchen, wheelchair accessible seating area and two large restrooms.

Available Seasonal Contract Ice Slots

The Legal Arena is now closed for the season. See you for the 2025/2026 season in the newly renovated facility!

ALL ICE SLOTS ARE AVAILABLE ON A FIRST-COME,FIRST-SERVED BASIS.

Arena Rental Rates

Off Prime Time Rates for Ice Slot Rentals:

• A 20% discount will be applied to any hours outside of 5:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. on weekdays (Monday to Friday)
• A 20% discount will be applied to any hours outside of 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. on weekends (Saturday and Sunday)

All rates are subject to G.S.T.

Looking for a free family activity to keep you active? Come down to the Legal Arena and enjoy free Public Skating! Protective equipment is recommended while on the ice. Please have consideration for young children on the ice.

PUBLIC SKATE TIMES - DURING THE REGULAR SEASON (OCTOBER - MARCH)
Sundays:  3:30 to 4:15 pm
Wednesdays:  4:00 to 5:00 pm

Public Stick & Puck is a free fun environment to come practice stick handling, shoot some pucks and have fun with your family or friends! This activity and is open to youth 12+. If under the age of 12, adult (18+) supervision is required. 

STICK & PUCK TIMES - DURING THE REGULAR SEASON (OCTOBER - MARCH)
Mondays: 3:45 - 4:45 pm
Thursdays: 3:45 - 4:45 pm

Requirements all those attending the Stick & Puck at the Legal arena require:
* CSA Approved helmet with face guard
* Hockey Gloves
* Skates

You will not be permitted on the ice without out the above protection. Attending the Stick & Puck ice times is as your own risk. Please be mindful of ice sharing with with all ages.
