Public Works is the custodian of all local roads within the Town of Legal and maintains approximately 18 kilometers of the municipal road network. The Public Works department provides summer maintenance which includes street sweeping, crack filling, pothole repair and line painting as well as winter maintenance of snow removal, grading and sanding.
Public Works also provides contracted services to the province to maintain 50 Avenue, the provincial roadway through Legal. Contracted services include snow removal and street sweeping. Infrastructure upgrades are beyond the scope of services and remains within the provincial jurisdiction.

Public Works will be crack sealing throughout town from July 19 to July 23. Watch for workers and signage.
With a small staff of public works professionals, the Town strives to maintain the roads in cost effective and efficient manner. Residents are asked not to park vehicles on the street when the department is street sweeping in order to improve service delivery for the residents of Legal.
Watch for and obey street signs for street sweeping. We ask that all vehicles be removed from the roadways to allow for the street sweeper to thoroughly clean the roads.
When street sweeping is in effect, please remove vehicles from these streets between the hours of 8:00 - 5:00 pm. Thank you for your cooperation.

In accordance with Bylaw #07-2011, when removing snow from your private property, residents are not to push the snow on to the roadway or neighbouring properties. Private snow removal should remain on private property.
There are priority snow clearing areas within the Town that supports access for emergency vehicles and education. It is important to note that all areas of Town will be cleared within an appropriate time frame. Please be patient.
