2025 MUNICIPAL ELECTION

Election Day: Monday, October 20, 2025

In Alberta, General municipal elections are held every four years. Town of Legal residents will elect five councillors for a four year term.  The Mayor and Deputy Mayor are then appointed within the new council at the organizational meeting held annually. When a vacancy occurs, a by-election is held if there is more than 18 months before the next general election.

Elections for our local school boards, Greater St Albert Catholic Schools and Sturgeon School Division, occur on the same day as our municipal election. These elections are often facilitated with the Town of Legal for voter convenience.
