Register to Vote in the upcoming Municipal Election

Recent changes to provincial legislation now require all eligible voters to be listed on a Permanent Electors Register in order to vote in Alberta Municipal Elections.

2025 Town of Legal Municipal Election

General municipal elections are held every four years. Residents of Legal voters elect five councillors to a four-year term. The mayor is elected within the new council. Town of Legal elections are regulated by the Local Authorities Election Act

 

2025 Municipal Election Important Dates 

  • Nomination Period: Jan. 1 to Sept. 22 
  • Nomination Day (last opportunity to file nominations): Noon on Sept. 22 
  • Advance voting: Wednesday, October 8  5:30pm-9:00pm @ Town Office
  • Election Day: Monday, October, 20  9:00am - 8:00pm @ Club 60 Roses

Candidate forums are typically hosted by community organizations, offering residents the opportunity to engage with candidates and discuss pressing local issues. Dates and venues for these events will be shared as details are confirmed. 

All in the community are encouraged to learn about the roles and responsibilities of elected municipal officials in Alberta. Participating in the municipal election is one way to influence how our community grows and prospers in the future.
