2021 LICENSE RENEWALS

2021 Animal Licenses are now due.

As the Town Office is currently closed to the public, to purchase the 2021 Animal License:

1. Complete the Animal Registration Form
2. Email to main@legal.ca or print & drop off at Town Office (5021 50 St).
3. Leave payment (cash/cheque)
   • in the drop-off box at the Town Office
   • mail to Town of Legal, Box 390, Legal AB, T0G 1L0.

Licenses will be mailed.

*New for 2021 - Large and Small tag sizes for Dog Tags! Please specify if you would like a Large dog tag or a Small dog tag when purchasing.

Licensing your cat(s) and/or dog(s) ensures proper registration so that we can return any captured animal to its rightful owner. The due date for 2021 licensing is February 15, after which the license fee will be subject to a 20% administrative fee and the owner of the unregistered animal may be subject to a $100.00 violation tag.

The rates remain the same as in past years, which are as follows:

Unaltered Animal: $30.00 per calendar year
Altered Animal:    $20.00 per calendar year

To ensure our records are kept up to date, please contact the Town of Legal at 780-961-3773 if there are any changes to your contact information, your pet's vaccination records or if you no longer have your pet.

   • mail to Town of Legal, Box 390, Legal AB, T0G 1L0.

Licenses will be mailed.

A business license is a good investment and it shows your customers that you are a legitimate business that complies with local laws and regulations. All businesses that operate within the Town of Legal require a business license. The deadline for 2021 licensing is February 15, after which the owner of the unlicensed business may be subject to a $200.00 fine (in accordance with Bylaw #01-2000).

Upon completion of the form and with your permission, licensed businesses will be referred on inquiry, be posted on the Town of Legal website (www.legal.ca), and can be included with the "Welcome to Legal" bags for newcomers.

2. Email to main@legal.ca or print & drop off at Town Office (5021 50 St).
3. Leave payment (cash/cheque)
   • in the drop-off box at the Town Office
   • mail to Town of Legal, Box 390, Legal AB, T0G 1L0.

Permits will be mailed.

*New for 2021 - Landfill permits will be issued as cards instead of paper tags! Reactivation of landfill permits will be required at the beginning of each calendar year.

All weight in excess of the 1000 kg annual limit is charged $39.27 per 1000 kg and is applied on the January utility bill as "Landfill Overage" charges.

The Landfill Permit allows property owners with a utility account to dispose of any extra solid waste at the Roseridge Landfill. Renters are required to have authorization from the property owner in order to purchase a Landfill Permit.

Freon extraction charges are $20.00.
